Descendants of William Jr. Gaskill

1. WILLIAM JR.6 GASKILL (WILLIAM5, JONATHAN4, SAMUEL3, SAMUEL2, EDWARD1) was born 30 July 1778 in Mendon, MA. He married PHEBE COOK 01 January 1801 in Cumberland, Providence Co, RI, daughter of SILAS COOK and JOANNA DARLING. She was born 16 July 1780.

Notes for WILLIAM JR. GASKILL:

Farming was the family occupation. They moved from Rhode Island to
Massacusettes in the early 1800's, about 25 miles south of Richmond, New
Hampshire where Jonathan and Silas, William's uncles, lived. The
children attended Pelham MA schools. By this time this branch of the
family had adapted to the Baptist religion. It was also during this
time, as Pelham records show, this branch changed the spelling of
Gaskill to Gaskell.

Children of WILLIAM GASKILL and PHEBE COOK are:
i. WILLIAM 3RD7 GASKILL.
ii. SILAS GASKILL.

Notes for SILAS GASKILL:
Silas died at age 20 at Amherst after being kicked by a horse.

iii. ORINDA GASKILL, b. 12 March 1800, Pelham, Hampshire Co, MA; d. 14 December 1868; m. ELIAS COOK, 17 July 1824, Bellingham, Norfolk Co, MA.
iv. LYMAN COOK GASKILL, b. 07 January 1806; m. DORSETT.
v. LEBBEUS GASKILL, b. 23 July 1808, Pelham, Hampshire Co, MA; d. 21 January 1868, Woonsocket, RI; m. (1) PHILENA SAMANTHA SAWYER, 19 October 1841, Cumberland, Providence Co, RI; m. (2) MARY A. LAW, 10 April 1868, Cumberland, Providence Co, RI.

Notes for LEBBEUS GASKILL:
After finishing his schooling, Lebbeus retraced the family steps to
Woonsocket, RI, close to Cumberland where the family had previously
lived. He learned wagon-making and how to make and save money. He
succeeded in the wagon business and began financing other manufacturers.
He also made a name for himself in real estate. He helped found
Producers' National Bank and was its president for 12 years. At his
death at age 59 he left an estate of between $100,000 and $150,000.

Massachusettes Marriages also lists a Lebbus Gaskill marrying Susan Dewitt, 24 march 1820 in Mendon, Worchester Co. MA
