There were about 80 some odd Gaskills in Burlington co, NJ in 1860 census....and I did find a Thomas Gaskill with a son named William H....but he was 6 yrs. old...not one..... wife named Anna M. she was 27...Thomas was 40 and a farm laborer....daughter Bulah was 8. William H. swas 6, Hannah A. was 3... son, Francis was 1 and a 13 year old girl whozsde name starts with "D"...can't make it out...there were other Thomas Gaskills and none other had a son named William H.......
The town was Springfield, NJ.....other Gaskills there were Francis Gaskill age 37 hotel keeper...he named sons Charles R. and James...and William Gaskill age 44, he named sons, John, and Frank....possible brothers to Thomas...or maybe not.... in 1870 William and sister Hannah are in another household working and in 1880 he's married to Lydia and has two sons William P. 4 and Henry 2
