This a pretty old listing, so you may already have received an answer to your question directly.
The name you are looking for is Farnifold Gaskill.Joseph Gaskill of Hog Island, Carteret County, made his will 19 Jan 1824.He named his wife Mary Gaskill; sons Thomas and Farnifold, both deceased; sons William Gaskill, Benjamin Gaskill, Joseph Gaskill, Loury Gaskill and Noah Gaskill; daughters Peggy Emery, Esther Linton, Christiana Nelson and Anna Styron. His son Thomas' children John S. Gaskill, Joseph Gaskill and Nancy Gaskill were mentioned in the will and Thomas' son William was mentioned in other records. Josephalso mentioned the heirs of son Fairnfold Gaskill, deceased, but not by name. There was a "Firney" Gaskill who mar. Nancy English, Mar. Bond 3/03/1815.A Thomas Gaskill mar. Sally Emery,Mar.Bond 9/16/1815.
Joseph Gaskill did not name a son, Anson, in his will but, his brotherJohn Gaskill, did name a son Anson, as well as a son James in his will of 30 March 1819. John Gaskill also named the dau. of his son Valentine Gaskill, who was apparently deceased. There was an Anson Gaskill who mar. Rosmond Willis, Mar. Bond 5/30/1810.
Both John and Joseph Gaskill were the sons of William Gaskill who made his will in November 1768.William named in his will his wife Ann Gaskill and sons William Gaskill, John Gaskill, Thomas Gaskill, Benjamin Gaskill, Joseph Gaskill and Jacob Gaskill. His son, William Gaskill, made his will 5 August 1813 and named sons David, Absalom, Abraham, William and Elias Gaskill.
In order to save space, have named only the daughters of Joseph Gaskill. If you want the names of the daughters of John, William and William Jr., let me know.
The name "Farnifold" comes from Farnifold Green, who made his will in 1711 in Craven County and died during an Indian attack in 1714.He named four sons, Thomas, Farnifold, John and James and a dau. Elizabeth in his will. One of his sons was also killed in the Indian attack and believe it may have been Thomas as Farnifold's widow, Hannah, married Capt. Richard Graves and had a son, Thomas Graves, by him.
Hope this helps you identify your Anson, Farnifold and Thomas Gaskill.
