George was the Secretary of the Colony and Acting Governor of Virginia (1638-39); member of the Council of Virginia.

He was a member of the House of Burgesses from James City Co., VA in 1649 and freq., thereafter.

He became a member of the Governor’s Council on 13 Mar 1657-58, which office he held until his death in 1671 (4?). .

*son of Col. Augustine and Mary (Towneley) Warner, I).

Augustine was a Speaker of the House of Burgesses from 1676-77, succeeding the downfall of Bacon’s Rebellion, and again in 1680.

He was Colonel Commandant of Gloucester Co., VA and was known as “Speaker Warner” to distinguish him from his father.

He was educated at Merchant Tailor’s School in London and at Cambridge in 1653.

The VA Magazine of History and Biography mentions Col. Warner in a list of sufferers from Bacon’s Rebellion in 1677. “Col. Augustine Warner, Speaker of the House of Burgesses in the late Assembly, and now sworne one of His Majesty’s Councill of VA. An honest, worthy Person and most Loyall sufferer by the Late Rebells; who was plundered as much as any, and yet speakes as little of his losses, tho they were very greate.”

Notes:
Willis (William) Walker married Mary Randolph Lewis, the daugher of a neighbor in Albermarle Co. Virginia. As a wedding gift young Walker took his bride to South Carolina to oversee a plantation owned by relatives of wife.
He eventually sold much of the plantation that he had acquired selling his slaves to Walker relatives who had moved to Georgia. Their children scattered relocating to Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky with only two remaining in South Carolina.
