Hello, I am seeking information on Roumaldo Garza born 1849. I have mixed information that I am trying to sort out. Some family members say he was orphaned--and his real last name was Hernandez. The info I have is the following: He married an Altagracia Garcia Nov 16, 1905. They had several children:Luis, Candelario, Pedro, Maria, Hilaria, Antonia in the years 1909-1919. My grandfather was Pedro (1913-1973). He died before I was even born.
Now onto Roumaldo...My latest digging has led me to believe that perhaps Roumaldo Garza was in fact born to a Eugenio Garza and Crisanta Laureles. Eugenio and Crisanta were both born in Mexico (I have no idea what part)and I have not found any additional info on Eugenio--the only thing I have is a birthdate of Nov 1849. The US Census for 1900, Starr County has this info. It also confirms that they both immigrated to the US--Eugenio in 1875, Crisanta in 1870. They were married Jan 1876. They had several children born in years from 1870-1907 : Luis, Roumaldo, Maria, Herman, ?Honosio, ?Felivento, Ernestina, Olivia, and Sabas (1879-1952) Sabas married Niceforo Pena in Starr county, TX 1896. Maybe I should post this in the Pena forum, too.
The only thing that does not make sense now is the fact that one of the children (Luis) was listed as born in 1870. But if Eugenio wasn't in the US till 1875, then I'm not sure what to make of it. Now that I have more names to go by I will surely increase my chances of finding the info that I need. I think I should post this on the Garza forum, too. There are many many Garza's so this makes all of our efforts much more challenging--In my case, since I have so little information to go by, I will have to narrow them down one at a time. The Census I mentioned above does seem to have wonderful dates for births--I have found 3 death certificates for a few of the children--including Roumaldo and the birth dates match up!
For now I shall remain hopeful. If anyone out there has read this far and has any additional info, please please respond.
