(This may be difficult!) Hello, My matneral grandmother was born Josefina de la Garza. Our family has always "known" she was born January 1, 1912, in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, but Mom's told me there have been some questions about the year of birth. According to U.S. Census information I was able to pull up on her family from 1920 it lists information about most of the siblings I know she had, but there was no evidence they were ever listed in the 1930 U.S. Census, which is a mystery to me. I've always been told my grandma emigrated to the U.S. when she was young but I haven't been able to track down a precise date in which her family crossed the border from Mexico to the States. (They would have had to have crossed over into Texas, logically at the Laredo crossing point.) I know she had twins for older brothers -- a Roberto and a Reinaldo de la Garza, who by 1920 were employed at a tobacco factory. I also know another older sibling of hers was a Hercilia ("Chela") de la Garza who never married, and an Alma de la Garza who did. Grandma was the youngest of some eight children and the age span ran two decades. Family folklore has always said that the family's farm land in rural Nuevo Leon was taken from them by force sometime during the early 20th century Mexican Revolution, but I have never seen proof of that story's veracity. The search for more information about this part of my family is getting incredibly difficult for me and I would appreciate further assistance here. The de la Garzas I am seeking more information on settled primarily in Texas. Grandma married a Samuel Felix sometime between 1930 and 1940 and my mom made her world debut in 1945. Hopefully this additional information will help someone out in narrowing down the field of potential candidates, so to speak. Much appreciated! Notify Administrator about this message?
