I am pretty sure the area you need to look for Nicolas de la Garza is "Valle de la Mota" in Nuevo Leon. The modern name is "General Teran." I would go to the nearest Mormon Family History Center and look in their IGI (International Genealogical Index) for his marriage to a "Maria Gertrudis Gonzalez" (around 1778) and the birth or baptismal entry for Calixtro - one or the other will hopefully give you Nicolas' parents.
