I have seen it spelled Geary in some places, but I have not looked for the will. Is this the John Gary who had a son named Thomas Gary who was married to Mary and they lived in Newberry , S. C. before moving to the Pendleton District of South Carolina. I believe that Thomas served in the Sl C. Militia during the American Revolution and was paid 18 June 1785 for his duty. According to the microfilm for the Highland Sentinnel, there is a death posted for Thomas Gary stating that he died at the home of his daughter, Mary and son-in-law.
Did your family own the Red House Plantation in Anderson County and Margaret Prince Farrar married George Swilling?
I am researching the SWILLING,YELDON, YELTON, GARY families and thought I recognized the last name of Farrar. My spelling may be wrong. If so, please contact me at so we can exchange information. Thank you.
