We are not related to Judge eldridge Gary who is the namesake of Gary Indiana. There is a large book of gary surnames that was published at the turn of the century. I dug through that book, and I am positive that there is no connection between us and judge gary.

My father found Milton in Ostego through the census. However, he couldnt go any farther.

I dont know if this helps, but there has been a lot of family debate on the ethnicity of the Gary's. Gary is an english sir name, but our family is olive complexed with dark curly hair. Milton's grandson Les Gary thought we could be greek, but he warned the family not to look in the past because he was told the gary's were horse theives:-)

I do know that Milton's Son Uylisis was a methodist. However I couldnt find Milton or aurillia listed in the methodist church records in lowden iowa.
