Hi MaryAnn
We're not knowingly related but we do share cousins.Mary McHale who was married to Thomas Garvin, Rathroe, was the sister of my great grandmother, Catherine McHale. So the children and descendants of Mary and Thomas Garvin are my cousins through the McHale bloodline and your cousins through the Garvin one.
I believe your great grandparents, Bridget Garvin and John Walsh had ten children.I've identified seven.Michael I believe stayed at home.Which of Bridget and John's children is your grandparent?Do you have any contact with relatives in Mayo?
It might be easier to contact me directly on [email protected]
Have you come across another couple named Bridget Garvin and John Walsh from Glenedagh, Kilfian? They would have been in the generation before your great grandparents, marrying perhaps in the 1840s.John Walsh was my great great grandfather and his wife was Bridget. She may have been Bridget Garvin but I'm not sure and am looking for evidence of her surname. There were two Garvin families around in Kilfian in the 1850s - one in Glenedagh and one in Rathroe - so they may have been related.
