Dear Lillian,
I looked up the Garvie family in my family group sheet and it's possible that either my data is inaccurate or, more than one Garvie immigrated from Scotland in the previous generation. If two Garvie men immigrated, brothers perhaps, they both could have had an Andrew in their long list of children. If so, your Andrew and my Andrew are cousins.I'll tell you whatI have:
The parents of my Andrew were David, born about 1816 in Scotland and he married a Mary (unknown last name) in Clinton, Huron County, Ontario, Canada.
His children were:David - born 20 June 1848, William-born 22 April 1851, Ann Jane-born 23 Aug 1853 (my ancestor), Alexander-born 6 July 1855, John-born 26 Sept 1857, James-born 22 Feb 1860, Barbara-born 23 Mar 1862, then Andrew-born 15 April 1864, Alex-born 6 Dec 1866, and Mary-born about 1868.
That is all I have actually, and I've been searching quite a while for his ancestors in Scotland, with no luck.
Do you have any more records around which could give any more details of your grandparents and their siblings. That would give us more grounds for comparison of the Andrews.
Enjoyed hearing from you-Sincerely, Shirlee
