James GARVEY b around 1790 and his brother Patrick lived in the old parish of Quin-Clooney in 1820s. Their father may have ben called Michael GARVEY.James married Mary BERMINGHAM before 1826. The first dates are their recorded children: 1. Bridget baptised 1826 Sponsor: Micheal Keane 2. Michael 1828 Sponsors: Patrick Biggane and Anne Lynch 3. Mary 1831 Sponsor: BRIDGET BERMINGHAM 4. John 1834 Sponsors: John Callinan & Mary MOylan 5. James 1837 SP: John Moroney and Mrs Mornoey 6. Patrick 1840 Sp: Michale Hoye and Bridget Lynch 7. Catherine 1843 Sp: Mary Moylan (alias Collins) All of the above children were baptised in today's parish of Quin, then Quin and Clooney. In 1826 the address was Cant.In 1828-1840 the family's address was Townland of Gorteen and in 1843 the townland of Dangan. On 1867 the occupation of James Garvey, Mary's husband, is given as a labourer and his address as Brickhill (at marriage of son Patrick G).
The Clare Heritage Centre who provided some but not all of this info suggest that the family of James G and Mary Bermingham left the Quin area and moved to Cratloe in 1840 to early 1850 period. They were certainly still there in 1901 census. DEATH: In 1868 James Garvey died at Brickhill. a herdsman, aged 75, i.e. born around 1973. Fourteen years later in 1882 the widowed Mary BERMINGHAM Garvey died of apoplexy at Brickhill and was her age was given as 77, that is born around 1805. Any connections?
