Hi Mike,
It's good to hear from you. Patrick's name has turned up in my searching of censuses and elsewhere. I haven't found a link between him and my gg grandfather, John. John had two brothers that lived here, Michael and Simon. They arrived in the late 1840s, most likely lured to railroad building work. All three had several children and the descendants are scattered all over the country. Some I've been in touch with. Here in Davenport very few have been found and their knowledge of the family back that far is slim. John was married to Margaret Marinan. Another Garvey, James, who was about the same age and was married to Mary Marinan. The possibility of James and John being related is high but I have found nothing yet to prove it. Did the Martin Garvey in your note work in the hotel business? I found an obit a few years ago for Martin and know that he is buried at Holy Family Cemetery in Davenport.
Thanks,
JD
