Joy

Well, i finally came upon a reputable site that documents the Rufford, Delabere line. Here is what I found. Number 8 as I have him listed may be one too many in descent, but it was difficult reading the chart.

Leland Garton

4. Kynard de la Bere of Kinnersley Castle, Herefordshire, England married Joan/Joanna Berry d/o Thomas Berry Sir Knight and Alice Talbot.

Alice Talbot, the third daughter of Richard, 4th Lord Talbot, and Ankaret, Lady Strange of Blakemere, is a key gateway for the Herefordshire gentry to a descent from Edward I. For the eleven families descended from her by 1500 listed below, she is the only link to such a descent for all but one.

She was born 1389/93, and was a younger sister of John Talbot, the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury. In 1412, her widowed mother arranged her marriage to Sir Thomas Barre, 'Junior', the son and heir of Sir Thomas Barre, 'Senior', of Rotherwas (in Dinedor) and Clehonger, Herefordshire, by his wife Elizabeth Croyser.

By Sir Thomas Barre, Alice had a son and three daughters, before her husband died, probably fighting in France, in the late summer or autumn of 1420. He predeceased his father, Sir Thomas Barre 'Senior', who died in December 1420.

5. Sir Richard de la Bere died 16 Oct 1514 married 1. Anne Audley dau. of John Lord Audley and 2 Elizabeth Mores d/o William Mores, Seargeant of the Hall for King Henry VII Richard inherited the estate of both his father & his mother & rose to become sheriff of Herefordshire. source: David Nash <david.ford2@@virgin.net>

6. George De La Bere of: Tibberton,. Herefordshire. Born Abt 1476. married Sybil Walwyn d/o Thomas Walywn

WILL OF SYBLE WALWYN DELABERE

DELABERE, Sibill - of Tiberton co Hereford, widow [no date] (sick in body)to be buried at Tiberton (and 20/- to the poor of that parish).

After payment of my debts and funeral expenses, I give £40 (due to me in a Bond of Kinard DELABERE, John ?BROADSHORE and James PRICE Esquires) to Alice, Sibill and Elizabeth daus of Kinard DELABERE [all probably of age]; Catherine and Blanch DELABERE other daughters of Kinard DELABERE; daughter Elizabeth ?NICOLLS, daughter Maude LAWRENCE, son Kinard DELABERE.

Sole Executor: son William DASEY [thus in Will but William DANSEY in Probate] Esq. (Signed) Sibill DE LA BERE (her mark)

Witnesses: Kinard DE LA BERE, John BROWNE, John MARTEN, Elizabeth NICHOLLS.

Proved PCC London 1 Aug 1611 by William DANSEY the Exor.
Notes: According to The Visitation of Gloucestershire 1623, George DELABERE was married to Sibbell daughter of Thomas WALWYN of Hellins and had two sons John DELABERE and Kennard DELABERE; Kennard married and left issue in Southam co Gloucs.

The above John DELABERE married Sibell daughter of John SCUDAMORE of Homlacy and had two sons, Kennard DELABERE and Richard DELABERE.

According to The Visitation of Herefordshire 1634 (which does not notice the DELABERE family), Thomas DAUNSEY of Brynsop co Hereford married Sybell daughter of John SCUDAMORE of Home-Lacy and had a son William DAUNSEY of Brinsop. It seems likely therefore that the Testatrix is the wife of John DELABERE, that he was her 2nd husband and that the Executor was Sibell's son by her first marriage. Sibell's daughters Jane or Joan DAUNSEY married Edmund BROWNE and Elizabeth DAUNSEY married Thomas NICHOLLS.

Kynard de la Bere married Elizabeth Huddleston d/o Sir Knight John HUDDLESTON died 22 JAN 1547. He was the son of Sir John HUDDLESTON and Joane FITZHUGH. He married Joan Jane SEYMOUR, daughter of John SEYMOUR and Elizabeth DARELL. She was born ABT 1469 in Wolfhall, Wiltshire, England.
