Dear Leland, we now have two people who have matching DNA and both descend from the William Garton who was born about 1630 in England and immigrated to Lancaster County, Virginia and married Margaret Angell. We would love for you to DNA test and anyone else who is a male with the surname Garton or Garten or close variation. One person tested with Family Tree DNA and the other person tested with the Sorenson Laboratory.

Both man descends from William Garton's son Uriah born about 1658 in Virginia, one from Uriah's son Zachariah (like you) and the other (like me) descends from Uriah's son Uriah Jr.

The more people that DNA test, the more information we can find out to prove our Garton ancestry.

Daniela
