Garton, Garten, Gartin, Girton lines
Hello Garton Researchers,
We have a Garton DNA project at www.familytreedna.com/public/Garton. When you visit the website, click on Y-DNA results. You will see that so far we have one participant who descends from William Gorton born in 1630 in England. This is the Garton ancestor who immigrated to the Colony of Virginia and died in Lancaster County, Virginia in December of 1709. He married Hanah Margaret Angell, daughter of William Angell. She was born 1635, and died 1702 in Lancaster County, Virginia. They had the following children: Uria born 1658 in Lancaster County and died 1755 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia; Margart born about 1680; Katherine born about 1683; James born about 1687, and Anthony born about 1689 and died 1763.
A lot of the Garton, Garten, Gartin, Girton lines descend from this Garton line.
In order for our project to be successful and for us to find how we relate to one another, we need more of you to join this DNA project. If you are a male Garton or have a cousin or other relative with the Garton surname or a variant spelling of the name, contact me so we can discuss how we can use DNA testing to find family connections.
Please visit the website and read about the project and its goals. If you have any questions about what DNA testing is or can do for us genealogists, just let me know by responding to this email.
Thanks,
Daniela Moneta
