Jack,
I have that John Garton jr. was married Jan 7, 1839 Maury Co.,TN to Mary Hodge b. 1823 VA and they just had the one child Sarah Garton b. 1844.

Mary Garten 27 b. VA (b. 1823)
Sarah " 6 b. VA

I don't know why John's widow living with the Butler's. I suspect the bplc of the dau Sarah is wrong.
