The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, January 24, 1907

M. VERNA, daughter of DAVID and EFFIE FISK, was born March 4, 1886, in Lucas
County, Iowa. She fell asleep in Jesus, January 13, 1907, at her parents'
home in Cambria, aged twenty years, ten months and nine days.

On September 6, 1905, she was united in marriage to CARL E. GARTON. Their
married life was short but very happy. Within the past month their
happiness was increased by the presence of a little one coming into their
home on December 24, 1906. But their happiness was soon turned to sorrow,
when after four days, God in His providence, saw fit to take again the
spirit he had given. "The Lord gave the Lord taketh away: Blessed be the
name of the Lord." Little did the mother think that so soon would she get
to fold her baby to her bosom. When after sixteen days separation, God said
"It is enough enter ye into rest."
