There were several of them who left and came to the US. The only ones I'm familiar with went to Texas and Michigan, though. My g grandfather was Johannes George. I know he had a brother who went to Michigan and his sister, Rosina stayed in Germany. The relatives I visited with had a tremendous amount of info, though and they're very interested in finding out more about the American Gartners.
