Good morning George ! I have a few questions to ask about your Louise Garrow.
I have some missing Gareau/Garrow in my family line and would like to know more about yours.
Mine were from Canada in Quebec and in Ontario. They migrated to the St Lawrence County town of Ogdensburg in the mid 1860s.
I must say I have not heard the name pronounced the way you write, but then this name has taken many different forms and spoken many ways through the years. Don't think it is a "dit" but it would be interesting to know more. Gareau has many different "dit" names to go along with it, mine is Gareau dit St Onge.
If any of this is familiar please let me know.

Kristin
