Marti,
I have had a response from Martha on the Edmund D Garrison whose civil war pension she posted.
Dee also contacted me and suggested I contact you also.
The Garrison line I'm searching is that of a friend of my grandson. He's trying to find a Rev. Ancestor. Let's start with the young man whose age abt. 14 and whose surname is Black. His father is a Black, his paternal grandmother is a Woods. That grandmother is the daughter of Louise E Garrison. I have Louise Garrison b. 17 Jan 1929 d. 09 Mar 2010 married James W. Woods. She was the d/o Edward Benjamin or Benjamin Edward Garrisonb. 13 Dec 1891 Centertown, MO. and Ida Katherine Murray b. 1897 they were married 7 Dec 1911 Centertown, Cole Co., MO. (census records, marriage records)
He was the s/o Mart (Martin D. Garrison) b. Aug 11, 1865 d. June 18, 1952 Boonville, Cooper Co., MO and Vina Stevens b. 6 May 1863 d. 2 Jan 1944 Cole Co., MO (census records, death cert of Mart)
Mart was the s/o Edmund D. Garrison b. 1832 (most census says MO but 1860 says Ark., Civil War Pension says Ark.) this could be because of MO and Ark. boundary changes around Greene Co. MO). He died 2 Dec 1904, Centertown, Cole Co., MO. Married 2nd wife Hannah T. Pates 2 Dec 1856 Cole Co. MO.(death cert of Mart and marriage record of Edmund and Hannah.)Before Louise died she said she remembered as a child being told by her grandpa Mart that his dad lived in Greene Co. MO before moving to Cole Co. He said his grandfather's name was James and had died a couple of years before he was born.
I though this would fit into James b. 1792 in VA the son of Isaac, but Dee looked up this information in the new Garrison book and none of these names are listed. It is possible that James was not the paternal grandfather of Mart.
The census lists the spelling as Edmund, but the death cert of Mart says Edward.
I thought at first that Edmund D might be the son of Buckner in the 1850 census, but later census and information show this Edmund to actually be Edmund B.
Can you tell me if this possibly fits into the line you've been searching? Thanks so much. Any help will be greatly appreciated.Karen
