John and Lucretia Vann Garrison 1772-1789 Rowan Co NC

John Garrison, son of Paul Garrison Sr. and Margaret Donnally Garrison, married Lucretia Vann (a widow of Michel Vann, whose maiden name was perhaps Addams) February 12, 1772 in Rowan Co., NC. At one point Sam Garrison, the orignal researcher of this famiiy, said that John disappeared soon after the marriage but his "soon" was really at least 17 years. He said finally that John was no longer found in Rowan Co civil records.

Although Sam didn't mention a child that I can find, there was a child born to Lucretia whose name was given as David Vaughn supposedly in 1772. I don't know when Michel died but Sam seemed to think this was a 12 month baby. However I have no dates on Michel's death nor when exactly in 1772 David was born. Does anyone know?

Sam also seemed to think that John was dead so maybe Lucretia reverted to her name of Vaughn/Vann. But if David was born in 1772 for sure John was alive then! He apparently "harbored a deserter" when brother Paul was apparently tricked into re-enlisting at the end of an enlistment in the Continental Army when he had not planned to do so...at least in that regiment...and went over the wall at Charleston and likely came home since John was facing the charge of harbouring a deserter! It was dropped sometime after the trial Paul faced between 1778-1780. Brother Thomas was John's bondsman when the charge was made Aug. 9, 1779. (This proves that, with both John and Thomas participating, the connection with the Paul who was charged with desertion).

So John was alive til then at least! And Sam must have found some more records because he says John was no longer found in Rowan Co. civil records after 1789. And that he was either dead or left the area. I have found that usually the person in question had actually left the area and I hope it is true of John!

So....Apparently he and Lucretia had a son, David Vaughn, at least. I hope someone is descended from John and Lucretia and that names of their children can be supplied. And where oh where, did they go! Finding the right John Garrison is like finding a needle in the haystack! I haven't discovered him yet! Or if someone is descended from David who can tell us where the family went, that would be wonderful. As an adult, apparently, and this is from the Vaughn/Vann genforums, David was in Tennessee. In Nashville and they have Lucretia alive til 1831, so I'll be looking for info there.

So I'm hoping to find some descendants here! I'd love to hear from you!
