Marti- Is this the William Garrison at Morris' Knob, named for Robert Morris? I was going through some old boxes today on a GARRETSON/GARRETSEN DNA inquiry for my POOLE DNA Project (with Garrison surnamed groups now enabled via new lab rules enabling multiple projects, if proj admin agrees-- whether primary or secondary etc surnamed or geographic projts) and saw my favorite article on this Wm., son of Aaron Garrison and wife, Eliz Bridwell. So, try "First Settler at Morris' Knob" by Charles F Brooks, contributed by Pat Surface to Vol 10, No. 2, June 1997, of _____________, the Tazewell Co Historical Society publication/newsletter format, p 7-10. It is written there, on pg 10, that the author, the late Charles F Brooks was President, Superior Sterling Co, Bluefield, West Virg, and he wrote this article 1 Apr 1978. Doesn't this Eliz Bridwell/Birdwell Garrison DNA align with the Nehemiah Sr bunch? Its tough to recall, but I thought this was the Soaring Eagle line which then traced back into early John? of Maryland, was it.. Which is the line which still holds the most promise for your male, E haplo Y-DNA line..Is it still the Quaker, Van der Hoff, or von Hoff line of Pol or has this shifted with all the new results 2008-09...? Do you still claim Elizabeth Frazier Garrison/Garretson ? With regards to William Garrison's in VA, know that I have often wondered who has the DNA for the Accomack Co Virginia line, which includes an early Thomas born say c1770 (which branch is not traced whatsoever in the papers I have). A GARRISON Burying Ground located about 3/4 mi east of Quinby Post office at the home of Mrs Lee James is mentioned for this overall line (let's call it AMES MEARS SMITH); also a burial location dubbed "Ellisland", Accomack Co VA. These cites I am reading from "Ancestors and Descendants of George Thomas Ames and Sallie Garrison Smith" book (spiral bound) which I copied c2005 while visiting Norfolk Public Library, Kirn Memorial Library area, Virginia. Compiler, Mrs George M Amerman (Dorothy S.) of 12th Street, Sunbury PA (1984). When I finally reached author, Dorothy Amerman in her nursing home, c 2006, she was most helpful, but explained that she had written everything she knew-- to help us all, over time...I had seen some other papers in VA on my travels on this line as well... This Northampton Co/Accomack Co. Virginia line of AMERMAN AMES MEARS SMITH GARRISON has generally names like GARRISON AMES, MEARS, TANKARD, READ, FLOYD, SMITH, JACOB, HARMANSON, WATSON, KELLAM, ANSLEY, HARRISON, HILTON, SHEPHERD, ASHBY, SAVAGE, WYATT, DALBY, CHANDLER, RILEY, HILTON, WARD, FOSQUE, WEST, CUSTIS, BUNTING, MAPP, HEWITT, ROBERTS, PURNELL, FAIRFAX and more recently, c 1900s, LECATO, TURLINGTON. Who is researching this line and has some male DNA to prove it? Richard GARRISON is noted in Dorothy Amerman's book, as living in Northhampton Co in 1671 leaving a will in Accomack Co, 1708-1717, with him marrying Rose KELLAM, daughter of Sarah ANSLEY and Richard KELLAM, 6 kids (the kids names are on pg 138.) On a different DNA lineage, did you ever eliminate the "Van Vorst"/ GARRETSON DNA...isn't this the one with the CANTWELL name, etc. I don't believe that anyone has tested or aligned their DNA to this complicated line...it just has the Edward first name in it, as you well know...
