Thanks for your input Dee. No, it isn’t in Sam’s book. In fact, everything he wrote in his book about Shadrack placed him squarely in his/our family. He didn’t even mention James & Hester or their family. At least not in the version I believe was his final revision.

The Paul Edwin Power book The Garrison and Related Families is online at the BYU site and I don’t find the surety document for Benjamin and Susannah, only the one for George & Anny. But being a skeptical person, I suppose it’s possible it’s missing from the online version or I just failed to find it so if someone can point me to it I’d really appreciate it.

I live in the county adjoining Wayne County Illinois where many of James & Hester’s descendants settled. They’re all around me here, in fact, my brother was married at Garrison Temple Church and many of my husband’s relatives are buried there. So I checked the vertical files in our very good genealogy section of our local library. They do have info about that family but not the surety document I’m seeking. Frustrating when you “think” you’ve seen it.
