That fits with my research, there seemed to be a lot of Garris, Garis, Geres, Garis, etc around the Greek, Black Sea, Asia minor areas. Jordannes writes that the Goths migrated across Europe to the Black Sea and had a large settlement south of the lake and swampy area called Maoetia there was a place called Hele from which Helen came and the Hellenes. The Huns originated from being put on the other side of the 48' deep swamp until a deer showed them the way across and they attacked Europe for a season to chastise them.
He also says they went down and settled in Greece then as the population increased and farming was difficult, they had to use picks to plant the hard soil. They found a lot of gold in southern Greece and traded for grain and establashed colonies in western Asia minor around the Black sea and Ionia. That is interesting where the Ionians came from and the Geres back then. My research finds the Garris name is an old and honorable name. Thanks for all of us.
