Hi Christie, I also come through Edward Garrett and Anne Bayne West Owsley, I just love Anne's name. Isn't it grand. Actually, I understand her married at age 14 and had about 17 kids. They were in VA, but moved to Gray Court, SC in Laurens county early on. I come through Moses Hosea Garrett, father of Elijah Garrett, father of James Garrett, who was my gg grandpa. Was there other Garretts who went to TN?? Is James Girard Garrett, who fought and died at the Almo in 1836 related to this family?? I think Anne Bayne West Owsley's brother's name was Poindexter. I think he was the governor or some offical in VA. He was well educated and was able to do whatever he was supposed to do. Some of the names I have come across with the Garretts are HARRIS, BROWN,BIBLE,WEST,BUCKNER. Others, I'm sure, but that's what comes to mind. I found paperwork on my gg grandpa, James Garrett and he was in the Cherokee Cavalry during the Civil war. I can't find him on any Indian rolls, so where does the Indian come in?? He was in AR by this time. Howdy all you SC cousins!!! What does it look around there?? Didn't our Garretts start a church there?? I know very little about the early days. If anyone has stories, etc. Please share. Has anyone seen where our grandparents of long ago are buried?? Your cousin in MO- Drina Notify Administrator about this message?
