I am trying to figure out who exactly Garrard CO KY is named for. Early tax lists (1780s) spell it Gerrard. And I would like to know if Garrard Fugett/Fugate, son of a Cynthia(?) Garrard and unknown Fugett, was any relation to my ancestor, Townsend Fugett. Townsend was born @1750, Garrard, Mercer, Lincoln or Madison CO, KY Territory. I am not sure he ever moved, but managed to live in each of these at sometime! Married Malinda Cooper 1778 Garrard CO. Died 2 July 1819 Garrard CO. On tax lists Mercer CO 1787, 1789. On censuses 1800 and 1810, Garrard CO.
