Judy: I have a good deal of information for you about your ancestor Robert GARNETT who was christened [not born] on October 8, 1792 at Bridlington, Yorkshire. He was the fifth child of Charles GARNETT and Ann LEAY. I have details on the earlier generations of this GARNETT family as well in my files.

Robert GARNETT married Rebecca DENNIS on December 1, 1811 at Barmston, Yorkshire, England. Their daughter Elizabeth "Bessie" GARNETT married Jefferson GRAY on November 29, 1837 at Barmston. Another daughter, Jane Ann GARNETT, married George McINTOSH on June 5, 1845 at Barmston.

Robert GARNETT along with his wife Rebecca and their younger daughter Jane Ann McINTOSH emigrated from England to the United States in about the year 1846 and eventually settled in Wisconsin. They first resided briefly at Hyde [north of Ridgeway, Wisconsin] and soon after moved to a place north of Dodgeville in the area where most of the McINTOSH families lived for many decades.

Robert GARNETT died on March 28, 1872 and is buried in Wyoming Cemetery, Iowa County, Wisconsin. Rebecca [nee DENNIS] GARNETT, died on October 19, 1881 and is also buried in Wyoming Cemetery, Iowa COunty, Wisconsin.

If this is the same family that you are researching, I would be delighted to exchange information with you regarding the later descendants in this GARNETT family line. Please get in touch with me by e-mail right away.
