I am currently researching the Northampton Garners and I will gladly correspond with you regarding Dr. Presley Killingsworth Garner. He lived in what is now Gaston NC and his family cemetery is near the intersection of Hwy 48 and 46 below the water tower in that town.
Richard Carter was in the District 2 tax list with 1 white tihable and 3 black tithables. His acreage was 300,worth 837 dollars. Also in this list was Richard Crump who was close to PK Garner's father, William Garner Jr (d 1835).
Many of the Garners in PKGarner's family were also in that area: Richard H Garner, Mason Garner, John Garner, Henry Garner, William Garner, Thomas Garner, Benjamin Garner among others.
Richard's land holding was 320 acres worth 880 dollars and with 6tithable slaves in 1847.He may have moved to a different district after that year as he was no longer in the lists of 1848-1851.
William Garner Jr brutally murdered his wife Martha in their home in 1834.Presly K Garner and his sister Susan Ann Garner were orphaned in 1835 after William's hanging in Warren County.John Moody, a close friend of the family became their guardian.
Presley went to college at Randolph Macon College, in VA and earned his medical degree there. He farmed and practiced medicine until his death in1861.
Dr P K Garner had 3 children: P K Garner, Jr, Susan Ann Garner, and Presley Claude Garner.Presley Claude died at age 7 in 1854.Susan married captain Edward I Thomas who became a wealthy farmer and merchant.P. K. Garner, Jr was a wealthy landowner and farmer.

C Edwin Garner
