Hi Darby
I will be looking for your email.(thanks).
I have been fortunate to find the genealogical journal of a Thompson relative who interviewed Robert King Thompson, born in 1818, son of Ransom Thompson, for information on the Garner family, as well as other living Thompson relatives, which included sisters of Elizabeth Thompson who married Thomas Garner of Pendleton District, SC and Gwinnett County, Ga.
Because of the source of information, they were contemporaries and well knew their nieces, nephews, and first cousins.Thomas Garner would have been the brother-in-law of Rebecca Thompson Hunnicutt and Mary "Polly" Thompson Duckworth, and the uncle (by marriage) of Robert King Thompson who was born in 1818.
Joseph Thompson and his wife Molly (STB Jolly) Thompson came from England, and per family tradition married on the ship coming over.Their children (not in order) were:
1.Joseph who married Polly Harris
2.John D. who married Peggy Gaddis
3.Ransom T. who married Ann Dalrymple
4.Zachariah who married Charity Duckworth
5.Robert who married Elinor Dalrymple
6.Elizabeth who married Thomas Garner, son of James Garner
7.Nancy who married (1) Isham Green (2) Laudwick Orr
8.Rebecca who married John Hunnicutt
9.Mary who married Zabard Duckworth
(Mr. Duckworth's given name is often mispelled and I have seen it as Zabud, Zabird, Gabird, etc)
Joseph Thompson left a will in Pendleton District SC in 1810 in which he named his daughter Elizabeth Garner (wife of Thomas Garner).
From the journal of the Thompsons, begun well over 100 years ago, it was stated that the children of Thomas Garner and Elizabeth Thompson were:
1. Joseph T. Garner (married Mariah Bell)
2. Nellie Garner
3. Nancy Garner (married Clark M. Harris in 1838 in Gwinnett County, Ga...one of her Thompson cousins performed the ceremony)
4. Mount Sina "Sinie" Garner married William Fisher Mitchell
5.John Garner married his first cousin Martha Thompson, daughter of John D. Thompson and Peggy Gaddis
6.Elizabeth Garner
7. Reuben Garner
I can also verify with additional records that Joseph T. Garner, Nancy Garner Harris, and Sinie Garner Mitchell were all children of Thomas Garner and Elizabeth Thompson. I have marriage info on some of the other children also, but have not yet had the time to verify the spouses (with additional records) as I have with Joseph T. Garner, Nancy Garner Harris, and Sinie Garner Mitchel.
Nancy's son William M. Harris knew Mary Brice Garner as a little boy and young man.I have a story about that you may want.I never knewthe relationship, but now know since having contact with Dr. Sam Garner and your message.
Thanks for contacting me directly at my email.
