Lewis Garner 1804 VA>TN-new wife info
Have found a first wife (and mother to my Sallie A Garner b 1830) for Lewis Garner, reportedly son of Obadiah Brice.
He married Loucinda W Alexander, parents unknown, widow of Samuel C Rucker (proven - ta dah!). The marriage date is unknown, but occured bet 1825-1830. She brought 2 children (lost one shortly after) to the marriage. They had Sallie A Garner, b. 1830 (proven).Other children with Lucy, if any, unknown. Lucy died bet 1830 -1835.
Lewis THEN married 1835 Louisa Abigail Ridley, dtr of Moses Ridley. They supposedly had 7 daughters and one son. Son was Lewis G, no other info except he owned land near his mother in 1878 and may have died in Davidson County. Known daughters of Lewis and Louisa were Mary Lewis who married Daniel Reeves, Caroline who married a Shannon, and Catherine E 'Kate' who married Caswell Hughes Wadley, killed at Battle of Stones River, and Felix Grundy Miller (despite the unusual name, there are at least 3 candidates!)
These daughters are proven. 3-4 others unknown.
Lewis' home was used as camp then as hospital during Civil War. His widow Louisa regained or retained ownership after the War and was living there as late as 1878.
Any information about Alexander line would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
