Mary Lacye Garner's 17th century Witch Trial?
On the Rust Family genealogy website,
http://www.ajourneypast.com/rustgenealogies.htmlhttp://www.ajourneypast.com/rustgenealogies.html
there is a story about Mary Lacye Garner's trial for being a witch.(See below for the gory details.)
Mary Lacye was the wife of Thomas Garner-- these are possible parents of John Garner(1633-1702) of Northumberland County, VA.
Does anybody know of any documentary evidence in support of this story? I have not been able to contact James D. Garner to see his sources.

*The Witchcraft Trial of Mary Lacye Garner
( grandmother ofMartha Garner Rust) Family researcher James D. Garner has traced the Garner lineage back to England and has discovered that our ggggggg grandfather Thomas Garner came to Virginia in 1636 because his wife was tried by water for witchcraft in Shropshire, England. In a trial by water, the person was weighed down with stones and thrown in the river. If she was able to free her bounds and escape without drowning, she was deemed to have received help from the Devil and was consequently burned at the stake. If she drowned, as Mary Lacye Garner did, she was judged to be innocent and was given a christian burial at the expense of the Crown to ammend for the wrongful death. After the experience of having his wife killed in this witch trial, Thomas Garner took his 2 year old son John and traveled to Northumberland County, Virginia.
