Hello Danielle: Your project sounds exciting. I tried to look up your John D. Garlington in "The Garlington Family" by Thesta Scogland but without his dates, I didn't get far. This book would doubtless be in your local county library or if you have a genealogical library, it would be there for sure. The Garlington family, especially John Garlington (1784-1866) who served as Laurens County clerk for 60 some years, was prominent in South Carolina for many years. John had a son John D. Garlington, born 1833 in Laurens County, died during the Civil War. He married a Williams. They had a son named John but I have no other information on him. I found no connection to the Duncan family in my book. If you can provide a little more information, I will be happy to look in my files. Good luck with your project.
