For anyone interested, here is data on Thomas Garfield and his family. Thomas was a brother of President James A. Garfield.
Thomas GARFIELD (son of Abram and Eliza (Ballou) Garfield, b. Oct 16, 1822 in Cuyahoga Co., OH married on Oct 18, 1849 Mary Jane HARPER (daughter of Hiram and Elmira T. (Heath) Harper), b. Nov 25, 1828 in Oxford Co., ME. Mary died on Jan. 4, 1900 and Thomas died on April 12, 1910, both in Jamestown, Ottawa Co., MI.
They had three children:
1. James A. GARFIELD, b. Aug 26, 1850 in Newburgh, OH, married on Sep 16, 1876 Clarissa Amelia CRAMER (daughter of Andrew and Caroline (Bulter) Cramer), b. May 31, 1848 in Madison Co., NY. Clarissa d. Jun 17, 1919 and James d. May 6, 1926, both in Jamestown, Ottawa Co., MI.
2. Florence GARFIELD, b. Apr 26, 1855, married Charles A. O'DELL on Sep 1, 1878. Florence d. 1887 in Jamestown, Ottawa Co., MI.
3. Eliza GARFIELD, no information
James and Amelia had three children:
1. Leslie P. GARFIELD, no information
2. James A. Garfield JR, born September 1881
3. F. Lucretia GARFIELD, married ? Pauline
