I am researching a Gaffield family, which came from Vermont through Clark Co., Ohio to Iroquois Co., Illinois. Thomas Gaffield (1765-1863) moved to Clark Co., OH by 1815 with his wife and probably nine children. Son Asa m. Rachel Pineo in Vermont and moved to IL in 1837 or 1838, skipping Ohio. Another of Thomas' sons Benjamin moved to IL soon after Asa. A third son of Thomas (Zadoc) Putnam m. Lucy Herriman in Clark Co., OH in 1835 and moved to Iroquois Co., IL in 1856. Putnam's children were Mary, Sarah Willard, Almira "Kate", Nancy, Martha A. and William P. Some members of this family went by the last name Garfield instead of Gaffield.

I would be interested to know if anyone has information on this family in New England or before. Please also write if you feel that I might have information for you.
