I have an old family Bible that lists Robert Gardner, born in 1753. He had 16 children. The oldest son with his second wife, Margaret Sinclair, was Robert Gardner Jr., born 19 Oct. 1793, Dyer, died 14 Jan. 1832, Bladder House.
Robert's second son was Hugh, born 7 Jan. 1818, which would have made him 62 in 1880. He died Sept. 10th 1884. Hugh's 5th child (1st son to survive infancy) was Alexander Donald, born 17 Nov. 1851. Alexander had two children, Clara Seldon born April 1st, 1878 and Hugh Brown born February 12th, 1880. Hugh B. Gardner was my grandfather. The Samuel Gardner listed in the census is Samuel Westbrook Gardner, Hugh's 6th child, born 28 jan, 1854. I'd be happy to send you a list of all the children in each generation or scan the information from the Bible and email it to you.

It's exciting for me to see your census information, because I didn't know when my family came from Scotland. This narrows it down a bit.

Hugh B. Gardner married Mary Wedderburn Ponton in 1904. My father, Hugh Hannaford Gardner was born June 17, 1906. I know he was given the middle name of Hannaford after one of his grandmothers, and that the Hannaford and Ponton families were both from Ontario... Don't know if that's helpful or relevant.
