Thanks for sharing your information. However, there is a conflict with the family histories of Will and Frank Gardner. According to Will Gardner, Thomas, with wife and three sons, arrived at Cape Ann in early 1624. The three sons listed as passengers on the Zouch Phenix are George, Richard, and Joseph. In Will Gardner's book, "The Triumphant Captain John", he says that Margaret Frier was pregnant during the voyage and gave birth in early 1624 after arriving at Cape Ann. So a date of birth for John of 7 Dec 1624 in England seems unlikely. On the other hand, while Will Gardner reports that the passenger list indicates that Joseph was a passenger, according to Frank Gardner (in Thomas Gardner, Planter), Joseph was the seventh son of Thomas (he doesn't give a birthdate) and couldn't possibly have been a passenger. So, could it be that the Joseph shown on the passenger list (perhaps by abbreviation) was actually John? The passenger lists for the early arrivals are notoriously inaccurate - many of them including the Zouch Phenix's were "recreated" by Charles Edward Banks (in The Planters of the Commonwealth), and are known to have errors. Still, it doesn't account for the late 1624 birthdate for John, although it is not impossible that John was added into the church records after the fact when news of the birth reached back to England. Again, thanks for sharing your data. Notify Administrator about this message?
