I frequently see references to Thomas Gardner who was a leader of the attempt to establish a colony at Cape Ann. In most reference there is no definitive information and where he was born or the date, marriage etc.---A British genealogist, who has done considerable research for me, found the following:

Baptism Reference: Thomas Gardner (Gardiner) Sherborne, Dorsetshire - Thomas born 30th October, 1591. No parent names shown.

Marriages for Sherborne 1565 - 1600 showing a marriage of
Thomas Gardner and Mary Frier in 1617.

Baptism records of children of Thomas Gardner and Mary (Margaret) Gardner.

1617 8th March Thomas Gardner son of Thomas Gardner
1619 1st January George Gardner, son of Thomas "
1622 20th July Richard Gardner, son of Thomas "
1624 7th December John Gardner, son of Thomas "

The two names Gardner and Gardiner seemed to be used inter-
changable---

Hope the above will be of help to other Gardner researchers.
My Mother was a descendant of this Gardner line.

Ashley B. Hart
