I thought this was true too, at one time. Have you read the book by Rufus Gardner, "The James Garnder Memorial"? It has alot of info, but the part about Tobiatha Martin does not make sense. It states her being born Dec. 16, 1780 in Franklin Co, VA. Franklin Co was not formed until 1785. It was formed out of Henry Co & Bedford Co, VA. I haven't been able to locate her line, yet anyway. I need to find out which part of Franklin Co she lived at in 1785, then start looking in either Henry or Bedford Co. About James Gardner the book states he may be a desendant of John Gardner. A contact sent me a chart he found with the same James Gardner. It listed his parents as Andrew Gardner & Jannetje Cole. The chart went back 5 generations, dates before 1616. It lists this family Gardner (Gardenier) as being from the Netherlands. I am not certain if this family is related to James Gardner or not for sure. It still needs to be looked into, but is something to go on if correct. I noticed you were looking for Arminta Alderman also. I decend through her son Joseph Lawrence Newman. my grandmother is a Gardner. I have found that her parents were cousins and her & her husband, Newman are also. They all descend through the Dalton line, Timothy & Elizabeth Dalton. I have Jacob Alderman (Alterman) being married to Rosanna Fadenland. I haven't found any other info on these 2 besides Rosanna being adopted by a Flannagan family and some refer to her as Rosanna Flannagan. I would love to know your line also. I descend from James & Tobitha's son, James Gardner.
