This may possibly be of interest to GARDINER and MUMFORD families in Warwick, England.
From a New Zealand Government death printout:
WILLIAM MUMFORD died at Brook Street, Valley, Nelson, New Zealand, on 4 October 1880, aged 30 years [presumably he was born c1850]. He was a labourer.
He had suffered acute double pneumonia for eight days, and his death was certified by medical practitioner Jas. Hudson, who had last seen him alive on 3 October 1880.
The deceased was a son of labourer EDWARD MUMFORD and his wife ANN MUMFORD, formerly GARDINER.
He had been born in Warwick, England, where he had married when aged 22 years [ie c1872]. His wife's name is given as Ann Gardiner [his mother's name before marriage - surely this is a mistake].
The deceased had been in New Zealand for five years.
He is listed as having three sons [not named].
He was buried at the Nelson Cemetery on 5 October 1880. The minister of religion present was the Revd. James Leighton, Episcopalian Minister.
The informant was the undertaker at Nelson, TW Trune
[? name hard to decipher]. Registrar: Robt. Kirton [?]
8 October 1880.
The printout extract is numbered as death no. 138 in the District of Nelson in New Zealand for the quarter ended 31 December 1880. The extract is also [twice] numbered as 1583.
This information does not relate to any family I am researching, but someone else may find this relevant and interesting.
