We are seeking an information on Thomas Gardener married to Bridget Kehoe in county Wexford, Ireland. Thomas and Bridget had at least 3 children christened in the catholic church in Loughnageer, Clongeen parish, co. Wexford, Ireland. The children were Daniel Gardener c. June 8, 1841, Elizabeth Gardener c. Nov. 12, 1843, and Eleanor Gardner c. Oct. 7, 1846.
Gardener/Gardner is not a common name in county Wexfor, Ireland. Anyone having any information on Gardeners in that area would be appreciated, as there is a chance that they could be related.
It is possible that Thomas Gardener had a brother Robert Gardener married to Catherine who had a daughter Catherine Gardener c. June 12, 1839, in the same parish.
Thomas' son Daniel Gardener married Catherine "Kate" Browne on Jan. 16, 1869, at Danescastle Chapel, Bannow parish, co. Wexford, Ireland. (Catherine Browne c. Dec. 19, 1846, Brandane, Bannow parish, co. Wexford, Ireland, parents Nicholas Browne and Mary Davey) At the time of their marriage, Daniel was living in Blackhall, co. Wexford. Daniel Gardener and Catherine Browne had a son James Gardener b. Jan. 8, 1870 in Bannow parish, co. Wexford. In about Dec. 1871 they had a daughter Mary "Mamie" Gardener, but we have not located her christening record. In about 1873 Daniel, Kate, James and Mary immigrated to Chicago, Illinois USA where the spelling of the name changed to Gardner, and they had twins Alice and Bridget "Della" Gardner about Nov. 1875, and son Thomas Gardner in June 1878. Daniel, Kate, Mamie, Alice, Della, and Thomas are all buried in Chicago, Illinois.
It is possible that Thomas Gardener's daughter Elizabeth, was known as Eliza Gardener who was married to Nicholas Furlong and had at least 3 children in Broadway, St. Iberius parish, co. Wexford, Ireland. Their children are James Furlong b. May 4, 1869, Thomas Furlong b. Feb. 3, 1872, and Mary Furlong b. Mar. 18, 1874.
