Thomas Gardener (Auctioneer) b. Abt 1870 England

I am seeking details on my GGF - Thomas GARDENER - b. Abt 1870. We know he was the subject of a family scandal (and we suspect bigamy) but know very little about him. He had 3 children, Gladys Josephine b.1899, Thomas Napoleon b.1900, and Irene St Aubin b.1901 (my GM), to Frances Elizabeth "Lizzie" RIDGE (but we are not certain that they ever married).

He is identified as an Auctioneer on each of the children's birth certificates and is shown as living in Shenstone Road, Smethwick (near Birmingham) at the time of their births.

We think (but are not sure) that he is shown on the 1901 UK Census as being Tom Gardner (a Travelling Auctioneer) visiting in Wales with his (other?)wife Phoebe (also from Birmingham).

Thomas jnr died on census night 1901 (aged 7 months), we think my GGM "Lizzie" died shortly after and the girls (including my GM) were sent to a convent in Harborne - Thomas GARDENER then vanished out of our family.

What happened to Thomas is nearly a 100 year old mystery for our family and one that we would love to solve.
