More Garbett Information.

Hello Peter,I'm the secretary of the Ditton Priors Local History Group and I thought you would like to know that we have just received Local Heritage Initiative money for a large project which involves tracing land holders found on a 1768 map and estate survey of the Manor of Ditton Priors.Thomas Garbett held 47 acres of land in both 1728 and 1768 and lived at Powkesmore (a holding up hill from the main village). The map (5ft by 7 ft 6 ins) is beatifully surveyed and illustrated and Thomas's holding can be clearly defined. We have two Garbetts in our village who are interested in helping us with this research and by using new and old material we can make quite a good family tree (augmented by original documents) going back to 1768 and possibly one hundred years before this date.I shall make good use of your site here to see if we have got all the Garbetts you have listed, but the problem we are wrestling with at the moment is which of the three Thomas Garbetts we have in the village in 1768 is the Thomas of the map!I think we will get there - but if you are there before us - please let us know.
