Hi, George,

My great-grandfather was (Johann) Ferdinand Garbe. I think he was Gustav's brother. Ferdinand was born July 27, 1864 in Jannewitz, Kreis Schlawe, Pomerania, Prussia. He died April 4, 1926 in Melville, Saskatchewan.

I found information that says "He was advised by his doctor that for health reasons he should emmigrate. On April 14, 1903 he and his family sailed out of Bremen on the Kaiser Wilhelm II. They arrived in New York on April 22 and then travelled by train to Churchbridge, NWT, where his brother Gustav had been living since November 1902.

Ferdinand's wife's name was Bertha Zilske and they had 12 children, including my grandmother.

I think his parents were Friedrich Garbe and Emilie Rosin. I wonder if you can confirm that. I'm very interested in taking this line back as far as I can.
