Hi, James,
I'm not sure if our Garbes are related, but I'd like to find out.Jonnivitz seems to be our link.
How can I contact Rachel Keller?
Here's what I know:
Fredrand Garbe married Bertha Zilske and they had 12 children
- Paul
- Hugo
- Bruno
- Max
- Gustave
- Emil
- Ewald
- Elsa
- Annie
- Willie (or Billy)
- Julius
- Fredinard
Fredrand's brother, Gustave Garbe married Laura (Eleanora Henrietta Kaeding) and they had at least 10 children
- Herbert
- Tracy
- Alice
- Laurina
- Fritz (or Fred)
- Esther
- Eileen
- Viola
- Laura
- Clara
I know they came through Ellis Island and arrived April 22 1903.Gustave was already in Saskatchewan, and Fredrand and family were joining him there. They settled in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan.
They departed from Bremen, Germany on the ship Kaiser Wilhelm II.
There is a book called "The First Hundred Years: Around Churchbridge 1880-1980" which apparently has some information on Gustave and family.I'm presently trying to obtain a copy.
I know that Fredrand and Gustave's parents were Friedrich Garbe and Emilie Bethke, but that's all I have.I don't have birthdats, etc or if they had other children besides the 2 brothers.
Hopefully some of our research will benefit each other.
Charlotte
