Rubie Etta Chandler Gantt
Born Oct. 2, 1908 in Covington County, Alabama, Rubie Etta Chandler Gantt passed-away on March 23, 2007.
She graduated from Straughn High School in 1928, and from the University of Montevallo in 1931.
Mrs. Gantt was a teacher and taught Gov. George C. Wallace, Sr., and Seth Hammett, current Speaker of the House of Representatives in Alabama.
Mrs. Gantt married Robert (Bob) Gantt, on Feb. 23, 1935.
She was a faithful member of the Coldwater Congregational Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Chandler Gantt, and her sisters, Mary Agnes Chandler Gatlin of Andalusia and Mayme Estelle Chandler Colvin of Prattville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers Oscar Lee Chandler and William Von Chandler; and her sister, Vivian Amber Chandler Garlington.
Funeral services will be held at Coldwater Congregational Church.
