Hi Janet: I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Pat(rick) Gannon B 1822 (exact) somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 1 rcd in Co. Meath. Father's forename was Christopher. For Ellen Mullin (+variants) B 1830 (exact) ditto, I found 2 rcds: Down and Cork. Father's respective forenames were Patrick and Michael. For Pat(rick) Gannon M 1851 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 13 rcds: 1847 Meath, 1847 Westmeath, 1848 Galway, 1848 Mayo, 1849 Sligo, 2-1851 Sligo, 1852 Mayo, 1853 Westmeath, 1853 Dublin, 1854 Galway, 1855 Galway, and 1855 Leitrim. For Ellen Mullin M ditto, I found 28 rcds - too many to easily summarize here. However, NONE are a match for the yr/cnty with those for Patrick. For Mich(ael) Gannon B 1856 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland with a father forenamed Pat(rick), I found 6 rcds: 1853 DUB, 1853 GAL, 1859 WIK, 2-1859 MAY, and 1859 LNG. For Cat(herine)(Kate) Gannon B ditto, I found 2 rcds: 1855 ROS, and 1857 KID. For Thomas Gannon B ditto, I found 4 rcds: 1855 MAY, 1856 MAY, 1857 GAL, and 1858 MAY. For John Gannon B 1863 +/- 1 yr ditto, I found 4 rcds: 1862 LEI, and 3-1864 MAY. For Mae/May Gannon B 1869 ditto, I found 0 rcds. The B rcds for the offspring are inconclusive at best. I suspect that all the rcds may be in an area for which transcription hasn't occurred. Suggest you wait until the database is more complete. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
