thanks ralph,
I have done some work with my Gannon's and am still banging my head of a brick wall - however I will post what info I have in the hope that someone might be researching the same family.
I have Patrick Gannon married to Catherine Kane/Caine on the 10th March 1873 in Aghagower Parish. I have 10 children of this marriage - now the problem is that there seems to be two marriages Patricks second wife could be be Bridget Ohara - or else I have two families mixed up!
the children are thomas, James, Hugh, Martin, John, Peter, Maria, Patrick and Michael (two maria's). I know Thomas was born 1883 and Martin was born 1890. However Martin's place of birth is given as Oughty which is a parish near newport and not Achill. on the 1901 census there is no Gannon living in oughty but two possible families in Tonragee - however neither family has the correct children or parents - they all seem to be mixed up which is why I think I might have two marriages. This could be the correct family but the wife would be Bridget Ohara not Catherine cane.
Tonragee East/Achill/Burrishoole/Mayo/Household/Gannon/Bridget (31)

husband Patrick(30) away-Thomas(15)-Hugh(12)-Maria(9)-James(5)-John(3)-Peter(1)
There is no Martin listed.
I still have a lot of work to do with this family - and I am hoping that someone thinks there may be a connx and gets in touch.

thanks again for your assistance - if I make any headway I will post my info.
