German or French Ganns? Castle? Coat of Arms?

Hey everyone,

My question is: Who is the oldest Gann that has been found related this lineage and where did he come from? Some say Johannes is French, others say German...is this line German? Was it even Johannes Gann that was the first Gann found?? I have heard rumors about a castle on the border of France and Germany (what was once Prussia?) and that the Gann coat of arms had a rooster on it. Another rumor is that the Ganns served under a noble family as, you guessed, it....the royal rooster caretakers. Is any of this true? Does anyone really know? Can someone please help me???? Thanks to all in advance.

Mitzy

Here is my lineage, as follows:

Johannes Gann?
Samuel Gann (b. 1705)
Adam Carter Gann Sr (b. 1727)
Thomas Gann Sr (b. 1764)
John Jack Gann (b. 1793)
Silas Boaz "Albert" Gann (b. 1815)
William Herbert Gann (b. 1840)
William Allen Gann (b. 1860)
Thomas Floyd Gann (b. 1889)
my dad (b. 1948, is a Cool/Kuhl-German descent)
