I searched the registry of the GHS&L and just came up with the same thing. Bethel Gann, born Abt. 1820 in Rockingham Co, NC; died Abt. 1865 in GA, son of Samuel Gann and Martha (Patsy) Barnes. He married Mary Alley November 06, 1842 in Stokes Co, NC.

Bethel's line goes...

Samuel 1800
Bethel 1820

Ignatius Nathan's goes...
Samuel 1705
Adam 17??
Ignatious 1759

Found no other Alleys among the connected names for the first six generations down from the elder Samuel. But I sure wouldn't be surprised if there aren't some we don't know about yet.
